The Arts in Terre Haute

Arts Illiana is the art council for a 6-county region in west-central Indiana and east central Illinois. That's a great place to start learning about all of the arts opportunities!

  • Community Theatre of Terre Haute - A volunteer theatre that strives to entertain, educate, and enrich the community through dramatic arts.
  • Hatfield Hall Performing Arts - located on the campus of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Hatfield Hall offers a variety of performing arts performances each year.
  • Sheldon Swope Art Museum - located downtown, this art museum features permanent and rotating collections.​
  • University Art Gallery - located on the campus of Indiana State University.
  • Terre Haute Children's Choir - The THCC is in residence on the campus of Indiana State University.
  • Terre Haute Community Band - an opportunity for area amateur musicians to express themselves through performance.
  • Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra - the oldest professional orchestra in the state of Indiana - a group of highly-skilled, paid professional musicians.​ 
  • ISU Performing Arts - Indiana State University's Performing Arts Series is a program that offers a range of live performances to the campus and local community, including music, theater, dance, and more. 

Terre Haute & Vigo County Parks Departments


Visit the TH Parks Department website, and also be sure to check out the following parks and attractions.  You can click on each one to visit a page with more information:
  • Deming Park - disc golf, swimming pool, train rides, carriage rides, large playground, shelters, Arboretum, sports, classes
  • Dobbs Park - playground, pond, heirloom & butterfly gardens, trail walks, Nature Center, Native American Museum, shelters
  • Collett Park - playground, indoor and outdoor shelters, sports
  • Fairbanks Park - events, festivals, shelters, amphitheater, boating, fishing
  • Hulman Links - 18 hole course with restaurant, lounge, banquet facility and pro shop
  • Rea Park Golf Course - 18 hole course
  • Neighborhood Parks & Trails - there are a lot of other trails and small neighborhood or block parks around Terre Haute. Check out the list and go exploring!

Fowler Park & Pioneer Village, Hawthorn Park, Prairie Creek Park, Markle Mill Park & Mill Dam, Other Campgrounds.

Higher Education in

Terre Haute is home to several institutions of higher learning. Not only are these great places to check out if you have college-aged children, but they also offer a variety of programming and other opportunities for the whole community!
